Peter Reinhart: Preparing the Hearth

Peter Reinhart master bread baker and chef gives you the inside tips on how to make spectacular artisan bread.

In this video Peter gives step by step instructions on how to prepare the hearth for baking. Here Pter describes how you can obtain excellent results in your home oven.

Note how Peter covers the glass of the oven with a cloth. This will protect the glass in case a drop of water spills on it. Be careful.

I know from first hand experience what can happen if you are careless with the water. Even a misplaced drop can cause the glass to crack.

I highly recommend that you invest in a pizza peel and a Pizza Stone .

Don't be intimidated about using a pizza stone or peel.
As with anything else it just takes a bit of practice to master.
